The staff at Jake's Flat Farm and Stable bring a wealth of knowledge and experiences to our clients.  They range from professional educators, mental health professionals, other professionals, college students, high school students, and volunteers from the community.  All staff and volunteers are provided training for the work they are committed to perform and are directly supervised by our lead instructor or executive director.  During the hours our barn is open, one of our full time staff members is on site and providing direct supervision of all activities.
  
 
 

VOLUNTEERS:
Carolina Hoofprints utilizes volunteers from the community on at Jake's Flat Farm.  Our minimum age for volunteers is 16 years old.  Volunteers must apply for a volunteer position and be approved by the Executive Director and/or the Board of Directors.  Volunteers are carefully screened their areas of interest and skill.  Volunteers are placed in an effort to attend to the goals and skills of the volunteer while best meeting the needs of our program and activities.  Adult volunteers may be asked to submit to a background check if they wish to work directly with children.  All volunteers are closely supervised are expected to adhere to a strict code of conduct and program policies.  We offer a variety of opportunities including construction, outdoor activities, office work, horse care, maintenance, and direct participation in therapuetic riding activities.  Applications are available on the forms page.  Applications must be printed and submitted  to the executive director for review.

  
 
 
INTERNSHIPS
We accept interns who are formally enrolled in local colleges and high schools for credit.  We also work with High School students who are working on senior projects if they are under the supervision of school personnel in a formal program.  Students who wish to participate insuch programs must complete a formal  Volunteer Application as well as complete appropriate school related paperwork.  We ask that the school personnel supervising potential interns contact Liz at Jake's Flat Farm to make arrangements for internships or senior projects.  All intern and senior project students are expected to adhere to our code of conduct and guidelines.  Failure to do so will result in immediate dismissal from our site.
  
 
 
ASSISTANT RIDING INSTRUCTORS-Occasionally during the fall and winter but more often in the spring and summer, Jake's Flat Farm, employs part time/assistant instructors.  These individuals are selected specifically for their horsemanship skill set and ability to work professionally with our clients.  Persons wishing to apply for these positions are asked to fill out the application form on the forms page and submit with a resume detailing experience and talents.
  
 
 
SPECIAL STAFF-  Carolina Hoofprints provides employment and training opportunities to Vocational Rehabilitation Services for clients in the Jake's Flat Farm programs.  Persons interested in participating in this program need to contact their counselor to discuss their needs, goals, and abilities.
  
 
 
PROFESSIONAL STAFF-  Jake's Flat Farm contrats with professionals in the field of Mental Health(counselors,social workers), Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Professional Educators on an as needed basis in order to provide the highest quality of care for our clients and students.  If you hold one of these professional licenses and wish to explore the exciting field of equine therapy feel free to contact us.  On the same note, professionals who serve clients who they feel would benefit from our services are encouraged to contact us about participating in their treatment plan or providing services.
  
 
 

SPECIAL PROJECT STAFF:
CAROLINA HOOFPRINTS and Jake's Flat Farm supports local students working on Senior Projects or students completing volunteer hours for OCS Students. 

We also support Special Projects for local service groups and programs such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H.

One of our Volunteers, Alex is working to complete the requirements for her Congressional Award. 


  
 
 

  
 
 

SPECIAL VOLUNTEERS:  In addition to individual volunteers from the community, Corportations such as Kohls provide Volunteer Associats to support our programs and activities.
