Volunteers to the programs at Jake's Flat Farm are carefully chosen through an application process. They are then assigned duties and recieve specific training in order to perform those duties. Because the non-profits we support require a significant number of volunteers in order to provide the best service to our clients, we are very selective but also very appreciative of what our volunteers do. Volunteers care for horses, work with grooming and training, side-walk and lead for therapuetic rding, and perform numerous tasks and duties that keep the barn and activities running smoothly.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 16 years or older.
- Must observe barn rules, program guidelines, and code of conduct.
- Adults must be willing to submit to a background check.
- Minors must have parental consent and support.
- Must show proof of insurance.
- Must give adequate notice if they are unable to attend agreed activities. Failure to do so will result in dismissal.
- Must adhere to a strict confidentiality policy.
- Must furnish and wear appropriate clothing and to utilize required safety equipment.
