Therapeutic Riding Trail Project:

Our therapeutic riding trail is under development.  Last summer it was trimmed and marked by Sayer, as his Eagle Scout Project.  We are indebted to him for his hard work and dedication.  We continue development and improvement of this trail.  This year we hope to add a picnic/teaching area, signs, and gps location/mapping of the trail site.  If your service group or club is interested in adopting this Carolina Hoofprints project please contact us for details.

THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAM:

 Although our therapeutic riding program has been in place for some time and we are currently serving clients, we are delighted to announce that we are teaming with Carolina HoofPrints to organize and develop a Therapeutic Riding program that is recognized by NARHA as a member center and eventually a NARHA Premier Center.  To do this, we are re-establishing our program to meet their high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.  Our riding instructor is in the process of completing the program to become a NARHA Certified Instructor and is under the supervision of a certified instructor.  NARHA sets the bar high for quality and recognizes only quality therapeutic riding programs which meet or exceed their standards.  Watch for changes at Jake's Flat Farm as we accomplish this mission.  Some of the changes already made include our new arena, new equipment, and new policies in the barn.

Our therapeutic riding program is supported by CAROLINA HOOFPRINTS, a local 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and support therapeutic riding opportunities for members of our community.  On June 4, 2011 Carolina Hoofprints will hold their 1st annual BENEFIT HORSESHOW with the proceeds to be used to fund the development of this program.Come out and support this mission.  information and registration form

NEW GROUPS!!!!!

Our ELEMENTARY AGE GIRLS GROUP is an open group and is currently accepting new members.  This group addresses social skills, relationships, and communication skills for girls with ADD, Autism, and other disabilities.  This group is an interactive group, using roleplays, activities, equine therapy, and expressive art to address group goals.  Call us directly to discuss your child's needs and fit with this group.

We are in the process of organizing an ELEMENTARY BOY'S GROUP for boys with ADD and other disabilities.  This group will address anger issues, frustration tolerance, anxiety, social skills, communication skills, and other issues.  This will be an interactive group, using activities, role plays and equine therapy to address group goals.  If you feel that your child would benefit from this group, contact us directly for information.

We are in the process of developing a WOMEN'S GROUP which will combine equine assisted therapy and expressive art therapy.  If you are interested in exploring this opportunity please let us know.
